But there is an underlying issue: Why do employers want a college degree in the first place? After all, employers have plenty of pre-screening tests for jobs applicants. They can tell exactly how smart and educated you are. But the EEOC doesn't want people to be judged by intelligence or knowledge. They wouldn't be able to force companies to hire incompetent people. Some professors I had called it 13 and 14th grade. This was also the time before the campus was transformed into the modern monstrosity it is today with fancy and state-of-the-art building facilities which cost 10s of millions of dollars for students who barely spoke English, and needless to say attended classes in the first place. The only way one has a better chance to graduate/transfer from that place is to go through the grind of honors classes. I managed to transfer to UCLA (a whole other hell) but the time I spent at Valley was the most mind numbing time I've spent at a place of "learning."The King In Yellowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08990177075054699124noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-491174673971804494.post-42236953907300120412019-09-22T11:00:34.966-07:002019-09-22T11:00:34.966-07:00That's only one aspect of the waste at LACCD. ...That's only one aspect of the waste at LACCD. Every CC is top heavy with more administrators than is actually useful getting paid quite a bit more than they're actually worth. There's a whole lot more illegalities going on and have been going on for decades. All this time the professors, the staff and the union sit by and say nothing.Eye of Horushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07398136948080848879noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-491174673971804494.post-59826345807666054572019-09-21T08:51:20.227-07:002019-09-21T08:51:20.227-07:00Fixed, thanks.Fixed, thanks.Doomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04528555392898760692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-491174673971804494.post-887195551290207632019-09-21T08:03:51.055-07:002019-09-21T08:03:51.055-07:00"About" paragraph 7, "-spending ove..."About" paragraph 7, "-spending over $4 a year" -- $4M ??Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02143299607176467446noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-491174673971804494.post-28883670353738215672019-09-20T20:44:32.571-07:002019-09-20T20:44:32.571-07:00These statistics are based on cohorts of "deg...These statistics are based on cohorts of "degree seeking students," so the 60 year old signing up for one course wouldn't be part of this, unless he put in writing that he's there to get a degree (which he might do, to qualify for certain loans/grants). Many certificate programs qualify as "degrees" for this distinction. Do you know if these completion figures account for working adult students who simply wanted to attend the occasional woodworking or conversational French class with no intention whatsoever of obtaining an associate's "degree" (more like certificate of attendance or certificate of having handed over cash in exchange for credit hours)?Barbarossahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14502606517018062952noreply@blogger.com
